Plan
a Successful School Visit
A
few simple preparations can
make an author’s visit
a positive addition to your
curriculum:
| • |
Allow
participating teachers/librarians
to have time to
introduce students
to the author’s
books before the visit. |
| • |
Hold
a brainstorming session
to generate questions to
ask the author. |
| • |
Never
schedule the author’s
visit to conflict with other
fun activities
(Nobody wants to miss gym!) |
| • |
Choose
from the following program
topics:
-
The Life of Sarah Hale
- Abenaki
Captive: How a Picture
Book Became a Novel
-
What Do You Mean I Have
to Write it Again?
A Whiner Learns to Revise
-
Pajamas, Tea, Dogs,
and Deadlines: The Writing
Life
For
adult audiences:
- When
Are You Going to Write
a Real Book: Misconceptions
About the Field of Children's
Literature
